HERITAGE, LANDSCAPES AND PUBLIC SPACES

Architecture and heritage are integral parts of Concordia University's campuses. Buildings and their surroundings have a notable effect on urban landscapes and public spaces. Depending on how they're used, they can be an anchoring force or under-appreciated. The university is looking to improve is use of culturally significant spaces, guided by the City of Montreal's approach to heritage in both campuses neighborhoods.

If you have ideas for enhancing Concordia's heritage and public spaces, please share them with us.

To help get you thinking, here are some areas we've already identified through initial analysis:

  • Reconciling heritage and real estate development to meet current and future needs and strengthen the university's identity
  • Enhancing public spaces with street furniture and programing
  • Enhancing and preserving of tangible and intangible heritage, landscape qualities and visual perspectives on symbolic elements
  • Upgrading heritage buildings in disrepair while respecting seeking sustainable solutions
