INTERFACES AND CAMPUS DENSIFICATION

Concordia University is facing a shortage of space for teaching, learning and research. It anticipates a deficit of 115,000 square meters over the coming 10 years. As it looks to address space needs, heritage and sustainable development will be important considerations.

Space is at a premium on the Island of Montreal and the university wants to avoid contributing to urban sprawl. With that in mind, do you have ideas for the development of the Loyola and Sir George William campuses?

To help get you thinking, here are some areas we've already identified through initial analysis:

  • Favouring development projects focused around central buildings (Quartier Concordia)
  • Upholding strong environmental standards and meeting energy efficiency targets
  • Investing in heritage buildings and improving their efficiency
  • Aligning university development with City of Montreal planning
  • Finding space solutions mindful of the scarcity of available city land
